Arsenal agree deal to sign £92m sensation: Transfer is done and dusted 'in principle' as player offered £250k a week contract
Thomas Lemar had been linked to Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window, but an agreement was not reached in time. The Gunners have not given up on the Monaco star, as reports of a deal worth £92m could bring the midfielder to the Emirates in January.
According to StarSport, Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Monaco worth £250,000-a-week along with a five-year contract for the France international.
The 21-year-old was concentrating on a World Cup qualifier during Deadline Day which prevented the move. Arsene Wenger needs reinforcements as Alexis Sanchez is expected to leave the club and believes he can land him during the winter transfer window.
While a deal is believed to be done, Manchester United are also planning a massive bid for the rising star. Mourinho will go toe-to-toe against Wenger, as the two chase the Monaco playmaker. United want Lemar to enhance their title hopes, while Arsenal need more talent in the center of the pitch.
The Monaco midfielder netted 14 goals in all competitions last season, and led the French league with 10 assists while setting up four goals in the Champions League. He signed in 2015 from Caen for just £3.5 million and will be another huge sell for the French champions.
Lemar could shatter Arsenal’s transfer record as the club look to strengthen the squad. If Wenger can pull off this monster deal, fans may be relieved after the transfer saga continues to drag on.
