Antoine Griezmann has mocked Thibaut Courtois after the Belgium goalkeeper accused France of playing ‘anti-football’ in the World Cup semi final win.
Les Bleus ran out 1-0 winners in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday, setting up a clash in the final with Croatia on Sunday after they beat England in Moscow.
Antoine Griezmann in today's press conference: "Does Thibaut Courtois think that at Chelsea he plays Barcelona football? I don't care how, I want a second star to be on this shirt. That is all."— Get French Football News (@GFFN) July 13, 2018
Samuel Umtiti scored the crucial goal, but Courtois spoke out against the way they had played.
“It’s just an anti-football team,” he said.
“Their striker plays 30 metres from his own goal and does nothing more than defend.
“I would preferred to have lost in the quarter finals do Brazil, at least that was a team that wanted to play football.”
But Griezmann soon hit back, slamming the way Chelsea, Courtois’ club, play.
“Does Thibaut Courtois think that at Chelsea he plays Barcelona football? I don’t care how, I want a second star to be on this shirt, that is all.”
Courtois will now face England in the third place playoff on Saturday, before the main event to decide the new world champions.
