Ander Herrera talks about David de Gea to Real Madrid speculation
Each day we’re hit with an update on the David de Gea saga. It almost feels like Deja vu.
Sources have informed Freebets.co.uk that Jose Mourinho is convinced De Gea is off this summer, and has therefore been scouting replacements throughout Europe.
Spanish tabloid Diario Gol claimed earlier in the week that De Gea contacted friends at Atletico Madrid as he believed Rojiblancos would beat Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final tie.
United take on Celta Vigo in the semi-final of the Europa League and ahead of the tie, Marca sat down with Ander Herrera before asking the former Bilbao midfielder about speculation regarding De Gea.
As translated by Sport Witness, Herrera said the following:
“Hopefully not,” the United midfielder said when asked if De Gea will be at Real Madrid next season. “He is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League for me, and for many people. He was named again the best goalkeeper of the league, and already it goes four years.
“He’s been at the club for six yeas. He’s very close to the number of games Van Der Sar played, and can become a legend. People here love him very much. I hope so [that he stays]. There are few goalkeepers in the world who give you points and David is one of them.”
Although Marca didn’t get a definite answer from Herrera, fair play to the United midfield for not refusing to answer the question. Herrera, however, is not in a position to talk about De Gea’s future so it doesn’t tell us much about the future of the Premier League’s best goalkeeper.
