New Liverpool signing Alisson has reportedly turned down the number one jersey at Anfield as a mark of respect for Loris Karius.
Karius is the current holder of the shirt, but isn’t expected to feature much this season after Jürgen Klopp forked our £67million to bring Alisson to the club from Roma.
The German goalkeeper’s Reds career has stalled ever since he made two high profile errors in the Champions League final back in May, which Real Madrid ended up winning 3-1.
Many expected him to be sold, and though that now looks unlikely with speculation over Simon Mignolet’s future, he will have to play back up to the new arrival. But Alisson has seemingly turned down the traditional keepers’ shirt in order to keep peace with Karius.
His signing, added to those of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri, have many fans excited about the prospects of a serious Premier League title challenge at Anfield next season.
