Cristiano Ronaldo joined the 100 club last night. A club with just one member.
The Ballon d’Or winner scored two goals to help Real Madrid come from behind to beat Ligue 1 giants PSG in the first leg of their Round of 16 Champions League clash.
Ronaldo has now scored 21 goals in his last 12 Champions League games and 11 in seven this season. An incredible record for a footballer many suggest is ‘past his best’.
In comparison to Lionel Messi, Barcelona’s go-to star, Ronaldo has four more goals for a single club in Europe’s prestigious competition.
After Messi, no-one is close to Ronaldo. The nearest pair are Real Madrid legend Raul (66) goals Juventus’ Alessandro Del Piero (42).

It sounds churlish to say Ronaldo didn’t have a good game against PSG since it was he who turned the game around for Real Madrid with his goalscoring instinct.
The Portugal international scored more than one goal last night having done little and PSG caved. Surely, the shortcomings of an oil-ridden, FFP abusing club should create more debate than hacking down one of the world’s very best?
It’s all well and good putting eight goals past Dijon and the likes, but it’s matches like this, in the Champions League, that you have to stand up and be counted.
Neymar and co failed but it’s still all to play for in the second leg.
