Mayweather Vs McGregor Prediction: Both fighters to hit the canvas in big Las Vegas showdown
Recommended Mayweather v McGregor Bet: Both fighters to be Knocked Down During the Fight at 8/1 (9.00) with 888Sport
Naturally Floyd Mayweather Jr is long odds-on to win with the online bookies quoting him at odds in the region of just 1/4 (1.25) to win by any means while Conor McGregor is the 3/1 (4.00) underdog.
But in the light of recent events surrounding the camps and leading up to the big fight on August 26th, it could pay off to take a chance at a big price on there being some real fireworks in this fight early on.
Floyd Mayweather is generally known as the best defensive boxer of all time. Unfortunately, his cagey, patient, albeit masterful style in recent years hasn’t left him in favour with too many fans, a point Mayweather was quick to address in a recent press scrum.
There, he made it very clear that he feels he owes the boxing fans this one for a boring 12 round decision win over Manny Pacquiao.
Not a fan of McGregor's taunting, but none of you said shit when Mayweather promised to make sushi out of PacMan.— Daniel Abraham III (@Danactico) August 19, 2017
Obviously many boxing experts and the boxing fraternity see anything but a Floyd stoppage as simply unthinkable, given that this is McGregor’s first boxing match.
McGregor was quick to point out that he is a multiple time, multiple weight champion in the UFC and other MMA organisations and that no other MMA strikers are in his league.
But even if that is the case, will his skill set and a rigorous training camp in prep for Mayweather, be enough when faced with the hall of fame boxer staring across the ring from him?
With the addition of 8oz replacing the originally planned 10oz gloves, the bout has a new injection of excitement about it, fuelled also by recent sparring footage of McGregor getting the better of former world champion boxer Paulie Malignaggi.
888Sport are now offering a very tempting Mayweather v McGregor special bet of 8/1 (9.00) for both fighters to be knocked down during the fight.
Many critics think of this unique event as something of a freak show, but many also believe this will be a very real and violent affair.
With that in mind there could be some rapid early exchanges and who knows, McGregor has the power to put him down if gets a good clean shot.
Equally, Mayweather’s superior timing and speed could see him stun an unexpecting McGregor and if the first few rounds are fought at a high pace, it could be very entertaining bet to have on the big night, and the 8/1 looks a bit of value.
