Manchester City 2018/19
Manchester City are a Premier League football club based in the North West city, Manchester. They are known as the Blues or the Cityzens and play their matches at the 55,000-seater Etihad Stadium and have done since 2002. The Stadium was built for the Commonwealth Games in the city that same year and has changed name depending on the sponsor of the team at the time. It has also had its capacity increased, with more plans for the future, too. Before moving there, they played their matches at Maine Road. City have been one of the world’s richest club since Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bought them from Thai businessman Thaksin Shinawatra in 2008. The Sheikh owns the City Football Group, meaning New York City FC and Melbourne City are sister clubs to Manchester City. Unsurprisingly, the club’s money has led to great success on the pitch, with three Premier League titles in 2012, 2014 and last season in 2018, as well as the FA Cup in 2011 and the League Cup in 2014 and 2018.
City were also a very successful team in the 1960s, winning another league title in 1968 as well as 1937. They also won four other FA Cup crowns. Notable players from both eras include Colin Bell, the star of the side in the 60s, and Mike Summerbee. David Silva and Sergio Agüero are arguably their two best modern players and both remain at the club today. Agüero, the club’s record goalscorer with 200, famously scored a last minute goal against Queens Park Rangers to snatch the League title away from Manchester United. Their record appearance holder is Alan Oakes, the former midfielder who made 680 appearances between 1958-76.

Manchester City 2018/19 predictions
Manchester City won the Premier League title in the most remarkable fashion last season; though they did not emulate Arsenal’s 2004 Invincible side, losing twice, they scored the most goals in the division’s history and became the first team to record 100 points across the season. Pep Guardiola has already stated that expecting his side to better those statistics is impossible, but City will still be favourites for the title, and rightly so after the sole addition to the first team squad of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.
Liverpool have impressed in the transfer window but that doesn’t mean they will close the gap on City enough to win their first title in 28 years. Chelsea and Manchester United have struggled in the market and there is no suggestion that City will slow down under Guardiola next season. No team has retained the title since Manchester United in 2009, but our betting tip is another successful season domestically at the Etihad Stadium.
