Manchester City are a Premier League football club based in the North West city, Manchester. They are known as the Blues or the Cityzens and play their matches at the 55,000-seater Etihad Stadium and have done since 2002. The Stadium was built for the Commonwealth Games in the city that same year and has changed name depending on the sponsor of the team at the time. It has also had its capacity increased, with more plans for the future, too. Before moving there, they played their matches at Maine Road.
City were also a very successful team in the 1960s, winning another league title in 1968 as well as 1937. They also won four other FA Cup crowns. Notable players from both eras include Colin Bell, the star of the side in the 60s, and Mike Summerbee. David Silva and Sergio Agüero are arguably their two best modern players and both remain at the club today. Agüero, the club’s record goalscorer with over 200, famously scored a last minute goal against Queens Park Rangers to snatch the League title away from Manchester United. Their record appearance holder is Alan Oakes, the former midfielder who made 680 appearances between 1958-76.

Manchester City won their first Premier League title under Pep Guardiola at a canter two years ago. Last year, it was the closest fought title race ever, with Liverpool amassing a total of points worthy of lifting the trophy in all but both those campaigns. City start this season as overwhelming favourites for the crown again; Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United will all be hoping to usurp them, but Guardiola’s side look too strong again if truth be told. They have only a few weaknesses, and they’ve strengthened them this summer, notably buying Rodri in midfield, so they are ready to build on the domestic treble.
