Supreme Novices' Hurdle Race Betting Tips & Odds 2018
13.30 The Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Race
Day 1 of Cheltenham Champion Day kicks off at 1.30pm with the famous “Cheltenham Roar”, closely followed by the very best hurdling novices around pitching their skills to see who is the best.
The race has long been a sounding board for some of the household names later in their careers and invariably, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is a high quality, all-action affair to kick off the 2018 Cheltenham Festival.
Cheltenham Day 4 Betting Offers
Cheltenham Festival betting for this Grade 1 contest is fierce too, as racing fans bid to get the four day week started with a winner. Many bookmakers will have a decent concession or Cheltenham moneyback offer for the famous opener, so keep an eye out for the latest enhanced Cheltenham odds and each-way places.
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Feature Betting Tip
Willie Mullins has won this Cheltenham Festival curtain-raiser three times in the last five years and a record five times overall. He will be hoping that Getabird can get him off to a Festival Flyer.
Getabird is unbeaten in four starts and was a brilliant winner of the Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle at Punchestown back in January.
Tolworth hurdle winner Sommerville Boy would be interesting if conditions come up soft (which is likely) – the same can also be said of Kalashnikov, the winner of the Betfair Hurdle.
However, Gordon Elliott’s classy ex-Flat performer MENGLI KHAN is looking like great value at 12/1 in a race where he meets Getabird on more favourable terms than last time.
The main Irish player to emerge in recent weeks is unquestionably the Willie Mullins trained Getabird, a fast improving and hugely exciting Rich Ricci owned gelding who jumped and quickened brilliantly to win the Grade 1 Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle at Punchestown in January.
On the UK front, Nicky Henderson’s oddly named but talented Claimantakinforgan is right in the mix, while the Harry Fry trained If The Cap Fits might well be the most interesting improver over hurdles. He won at Kempton Park on Boxing Day in impressive fashion. With the size and scope to keep improving, this horse does very much fit the bill of a horse likely to run a mammoth race in a Supreme and with Noel Fehily riding, he will be in good hands.
