OLBG Mares Hurdle Betting Tips & Odds 2018

16.10 The OLBG Mares’ Hurdle Race

One of the real success stories in recent years at the Cheltenham Festival has been this Grade 1 event over 2m 4f, for the very best hurdling mares in training.

For five years, the remarkable Quevega dominated the race as well as the Cheltenham betting money and really it was all about her. But now, the Mares’ Hurdle is starting to attract a better quality of mare, a case in point being the 2017 renewal.

Cheltenham Day 4 Betting Offers

Last year Apple’s Jade, Vroum Vroum Mag and Limini produced an exciting finish up the famous Cheltenham hill, with the first named Gordon Elliott trained runner pulling out more in the final 100-yards under a determined Bryan Cooper drive.

The 2018 Mares’ Hurdle promises to be an equally interesting and high class affair.

OLBG Mares’ Hurdle Feature Betting Tip

The Mares’ Hurdle looks likely to be a procession for last year’s victor APPLES JADE, who is no bigger than 8/13 in the Cheltenham betting odds at this stage.

Gordon Elliott confirmed that the Mares’ only race on the opening day at Prestbury Park is the intended scheduled target, despite Apples Jade’s alternative entries against the boys.

Benie Des Dieux appears to be the only conceivable danger to the hotpot favourite on paper. She made it three wins in as many starts over fences in the BBA Ireland Limited Opera Hat Mares Chase at Naas last time out.

Warren Greatrex believes his La Bague Au Roi is more talented than Cole Harden and she could easily be involved at the finish.

Main Players

Once again it is Apple’s Jade punters are latching onto and the six-year-old mare has been perfect so far this season, winning all three of her starts. At 5/6 top price, Apple’s Jade is the one they all have to beat.

The Rich Ricci owned pair Let’s Dance and Limini are next in the betting and would make for worthy opposition for Willie Mullins, while Verdana Blue, Colin’s Sister and perhaps Poppy Kay might turn out to be amongst the best of those representing the UK defence, in a market dominated by top Irish mares.

Apple’s Jade is the class act and if she gets there in one piece, should have this in the bag.
