Mares Novices Hurdle Betting Tips & Odds 2018
16.50 The Trull House Stud Mares Novices’ Hurdle
A recent and much welcome addition to the Day 3 of Cheltenham Festival 2018 is this Mares’ Novice Hurdle over the extended two mile trip, last year won by the well backed and very talented Let’s Dance, who is sure to make her presence felt in the main Mares’ Hurdle on day one this year.
A Grade 2 race, the Mares’ Novice Hurdle is worth £80,000 and provides a fantastic platform for young and classy mares to have their day in the sun on the biggest stage of all.

Mares Novices’ Feature Betting Tip
The banker of day three looks to be LAURINA who has looked very good in this division having won a maiden at Tramore and a Grade 3 contest at the end of January at Fairyhouse by 11 lengths.
The form of that race has worked out subsequently with the runner-up bolting up at the Dublin Racing Festival in a handicap and there is little in the way of opposition to Willie Mullins’ mare.
Maria’s Benefit has been a hugely likeable mare since needing the run at Worcester in September and has kept on winning, which includes a Grade 2 at Doncaster on her latest start, but her run style has to be a cause for concern.
Nicky Henderson is likely to saddle two mares in Countister, a fortunate winner at Sandown last month, and Dame De Compagnie, who is entitled to have benefited from her most recent start at Ascot having had a few niggly issues after Cheltenham in November where she disappointed in a Grade 2 behind Slate House.
Apple’s Shakira is perhaps the most exciting young filly in training, but she is favourite for the Triumph Hurdle are far more likely to run in that.
Stuart Edmunds trained Maria’s Benefit is 5/1 in the Cheltenham betting market and is a winner of her last four starts in a row, winning at a variety of racecourses and proving herself to be quite the firecracker.
Perhaps the most exciting UK trained novice mare is Nicky Henderson’s Countister, available to back at an eye-catching top price of 12/1.
She showed promise behind Cap Soleil on hurdling debut, before really coming of age at Doncaster when landing her maiden in tremendous style, thrashing the subsequent winner De Rasher Counter all ends up. She has plenty of size and presence and could be perfect for the Mares’ Novice Hurdle on Day three.
