Glenfarclas Cross Country Steeple Chase Betting Tips & Odds 2018
16.10 The Glenfarclas Cross Country Steeple Chase
The Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase is a unique event at Cheltenham Festival Day 2, Ladies Day, and is a three mile and seven furlong (3m 7f) contest containing a variety of different types of fences and obstacles for the horses to negotiate in their three laps around the inner track course.
From Grand National style fences to huge banks, the Cross Country takes a certain type of horse to win. In 2017, Gordon Elliott’s Cheltenham racecourse specialist Cause Of Causes stormed up the hill to victory, beating the veteran Bless The Wings convincingly at odds of 4/1.
Cheltenham Day 4 Betting Offers
The 2018 Cross Country Chase is gearing up to be an absorbing renewal, with the Irish and the UK both having legitimate hopes.
Cross Country Feature Betting Tip
Cause Of Causes will be bidding for a remarkable fourth Festival success and back-to-back wins in this race before going onto Aintree for a tilt at the 2018 Grand National.
The 152 rated ten-year-old is naturally going to be very hard to oppose and he looks like a Placepot banker on the day, however his veteran stablemate BLESS THE WINGS may represent some better value in the race.
The thirteen-year-old saw off several of these rivals in the December version of this race and he expertly knows how to plot his way around this course without the need for a Sat-Nav.
Tiger Roll looks better suited to the main course over a distance and Josie’s Orders should run his usual solid race.
This year Cause Of Causes is the 4/1 Cheltenham betting favourite for the Cross Country Chase on Ladies Day Cheltenham and will be prepared to the minute by his master trainer Gordon Elliott, in an effort to win the same race once again.
In chief opposition, fellow Irish raiders Ballycasey and Josie’s Orders are priced at 8/1 and although different in profile, both rate as very interesting contenders. Josie’s Orders with the more course experience, Ballycasey with the potential to do well if taking to the fences.
Cross Country stalwarts Cantlow and Bless The Wings are available to back at double figure 2018 Cheltenham odds and both hold solid each way claims, while Kingswell Theatre is also well worth keeping in mind on the back of his success over this course back in October.
