Tip For Cheltenham’s Champion Bumper: Blue Sari To Make It Ten For Mullins In Cheltenham Bumper

Willie Mullins has a tremendous record in the Champion Bumper and his Blue Sari can make it win number ten for the Closutton maestro.

The first place to look when trying to find the winner of Cheltenham’s Weatherby’s Champion Bumper is with Irish trainer Willie Mullins. The master of Closutton has taken the race on no less than nine occasions since it’s inception in 1992, but not always with the stable’s main hope. Mullins’ last two winners of the race – Briar Hill and Relegate – both started at odds of 25-1. The champion trainer can win the extended two mile Flat race for a record tenth time in just over a week’s time, on this occasion with Blue Sari, bet365’s 5-1 second favourite in the latest Cheltenham betting odds.

Blue Sari Set To Join Cue Card

The last four-year-old to win the Champion Bumper was the great Cue Card back in 2010 and the JP McManus-owned son of Saddex must have a good chance of emulating Colin Tizzard’s popular performer in receipt of the 8lb age allowance from main market rival Envoi Allen. In the hands of top amateur Patrick Mullins Blue Sari could not have been more impressive when winning on his debut at Gowran Park back in January. Sent off the 15-8 second favourite behind the well touted Front View, the result was never in much doubt as Blue Sari strode eleven lengths clear of Joseph O’Brien’s market leader who was going ominously well on his next start at Naas when being brought down by a faller.

Envoi Allen Post Strong Form

In a race where the form of many lightly-raced contenders is difficult to assess there is little doubt that the Gordon Elliott-trained Envoi Allen (9-2 with William Hill) deserves to be towards the head of the betting. Unbeaten in three outings since winning a point-to-point 12 months ago, the five-year-old’s best effort came when taking a Grade 2 contest at Leopardstown on his most recent start. Get In The Queue, Meticulous, Master Debonair and Eden Du Houx are others who could take a hand in the finish of an open renewal.
