The Pertemps Handicap Hurdle Final is another hugely competitive handicap at the festival, and one of the toughest puzzles for punters to solve on day three.
What makes this race unique is that runners have to qualify from qualifiers during the national hunt season.
In these races, the top six horses home can then enter to run in the final at the festival, so you don’t have to win a qualifier to be in the race.
A typically impossible field to solve for punters with a combination of recent winners, horses who may have more to offer and those who have done the bare minimum to qualify.
The one that stands out for us is Brinkley, who is a double figure price and has really impressed this season for David Pipe.
Pulled up on his first start, since then he has won by nine lengths and three and a half lengths, moving up in quality on both occasions. He deserves the step up into this kind of company, and has experience handling big field races.
With relatively low miles on the clock, there could be even more to come and Brinkley is our each way pick in this race.
We’ve currently got three horses battling for favouritism, Imperial Alcazar and Champagne Platinum who are 6/1 and The Bosses Oscar who is 7/1.
Everyone else entered is currently double figures, and when we get to the day, you can expect pretty much the same again, with the vast majority, if not all, of this field being available at an each way price.
Brinkley for the Pipe team is currently a 12/1 chance, alongside a whole host of others that are between 10/1 and 20/1.
