The Paddy Power Mares’ Chase is a brand new race at the Cheltenham Festival and has been given a prime slot on Gold Cup day.
Recent races that we have seen added to the festival for Mares have been dominated by Ireland, will this one be the same?
Few Mares go chasing, so this race may take some time to settle down and attract entries, but it is certainly an exciting proposition for punters!
We look set to see some great mares taking to the track for the first running of this contest, which is great to see and hopefully a sign of things to come in the future.
Shattered Love is our each way pick in the contest. She has an excellent record when running against mares, but is often thrown in against the boys which makes things a little tough for her.
This race has been made exactly for horses like her, and she comes here with a very good each way chance based on the form she has shown this season. That includes her second to favourite Elimay last time out, over a shorter trip and the extra distance plus hill finish here will suit Shattered Love.
Elimay heads the betting at 7/4 after a string of impressive performances and many wins. Behind her, Colreevy is another strong contender for the race, available at 7/2.
Shattered Love is next at 15/2, while Annie MC is the first British trained runner in the betting at 8/1.
Magic Of Light, Salsaretta and Happy Diva will catch the eye as potential outsiders to watch out for, and are all between 14/1 and 20/1 at the moment.
