The final race of day three at the Cheltenham Festival is the Kim Muir handicap chase. If you are placing Cheltenham free bets then this is your last chance on Thursday.
The race is a tough, staying chase that is confined to amateur riders.
With a big field of runners, expect big odds on the selections you bet on Cheltenham in this contest.
Riders such as Jamie Codd, Derek O’Connor and Patrick Mullins are some of the names to look out for in this race.
Talk to people who study the Cheltenham handicaps and the Kim Muir is always one of those races where people believe that horses are laid out for this race, and have been protected in some way during the season before Cheltenham.
That horse this year could well be the Jonjo O’Neill trained Time To Get Up.
He’s an eight year old, but has just six runs under his belt, three maiden hurdle races in Ireland before coming to O’Neill and going chasing straight away.
That was an interesting decision, though given the time lost with this horse, it is no surprise.
He improved for the step up to three miles last time out, winning at Wincanton by five lengths. Go back to his time in Ireland and he was second behind Monkfish in a maiden hurdle, and there is every chance that this horse could still be well ahead of his mark, despite the 8lb rise for winning last time out.
The two talking horses in this race so far are Run Wild Fred who is currently 9/2 favourite and Time To Get Up who is at 6/1.
We may see more moves on the day, but as things stand at the moment, every other runner is double figures.
The likes of Hold The Note, Jerrysback, Shantou Flyer and Le Breuil are experienced animals who may be able to get involved and will no doubt attract each way interest from punters, so we could see a gamble on one of these.
Expect a fascinating betting market, and look out for each way offers on this race, like any festival handicap.
