The Foxhunters Chase is the highlight of the amateur horse racing season. Using the same course and distance as the Gold Cup, the race is often referred to as the amateurs Gold Cup.
We always see a hotly contested race here, and a great way to come back down to earth after the thrill of the Gold Cup.
With a big field guaranteed, this is a great race to bet on Cheltenham and use up any remaining Cheltenham free bets you have.
Which amateur jockey will be bringing home the winning ride in 2021?
12 months ago, It Came To Pass won the Foxhunters with Billaway in second place behind him. This year, we think Billaway can reverse those placings and land the victory.
He’s in great form this season, winning his last two starts and as a nine year old, he has age on his side when compared to most of this, including It Came To Pass, who comes back as an 11 year old this time around.
The Mullins team will have Billaway ready on the day, and given his form this season and strong performance in this race last season, he is our tip to take this race.
Billaway is the strong 5/2 favourite for this contest, and that should come as no surprise with some rock solid form in the book from this season.
He is followed in the betting by Bob And Co who is 5/1 and It Came To Pass at 9/1. As ever with this race, we then have a long list of runners who are available at big odds, who may be able to sneak into the frame or more.
The amateur season has been very different this time around due to Covid-19, but that hopefully will not stop the Foxhunters from being the great spectacle it usually is.
