Cheltenham Tip For Brown Advisory Handicap Chase: Diva Can Call The Tune In ‘Mildmay Of Flete’

The ultra-consistent Happy Diva is a sporting bet to win what was known as the Mildmay Of Fleet Chase, the fifth race on day 3 of the festival.

HAPPY DIVA – 16-1 with bet365 (nrnb). 4.10pm Cheltenham Thursday 14th March.

HAPPY DIVA - 16-1 with bet365 16/1 bet365

Dating back to 1951 when this extended two and a half mile handicap was run in honour of the 2nd Baron Mildmay Of Flete, the fifth race on day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival is now known as the Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase. The race is always one of the most fiercely competitive at the festival but the Kerry Lee-trained Happy Diva looks sure to run well at a the 16-1 available (nrnb) with bet365 and Coral.

Happy Diva – A Model Of Consistency

With thirteen runs over fences to date the eight-year-old Happy Diva has finished outside of the first three on only two occasions, once when brought down in the valuable BetVictor Gold Cup when travelling strongly last November and the second on the mare’s most recent start at Newbury on Saturday when unseating jockey Richard Patrick following an uncharacteristic mistake at the eighth fence.

The daughter of King’s Theatre, winner of four races over the bigger obstacles, was no match for top chaser Cyrname at Ascot in January (finished third) but took the scalp of Jessica Harrington’s talented Magic Of Light at Huntingdon just six days later, earning a career-high mark of 142. While Happy Diva needs several above her in the weights to drop out in order to gain her place in the line-up she should make the race towards the bottom of the handicap and another bold show is expected.

Siruh Du Lac And Janika Set To Renew Rivalry

Cheltenham’s Spectra Cyber Security Solutions Trophy Chase back in January looks a significant trial for this race with the first two – Siruh Du Lac and Janika – expected to renew rivalry. Nick Williams’ son of Turgeon came out on top there by a head, landing a hat-trick in the process, but on 1lb better terms the Nicky Henderson-trained ex-French gelding can be expected to turn the tables on only his third start for the stable. Calipto, from the stable of Venetia Williams who took this race in 2007/2009 and 2013 , is another who can go well at a big price (20-1 with William Hill).
