Everton v Liverpool Betting Predictions | Premier League BettingPublished December 15, 2016
Liverpool picked up one of their best wins of the season away to Middlesbrough on Wednesday night. A 3-0 win, their first Premier League clean sheet since November. Did this vindicate the dropping of Loris Karius? Kind of. Simon Mignolet wasn’t adequately tested on his return to Premier League action. The majority of the goalmouth fun was had at the other end.
Adam Lallana scored either side of a Divock Origi goal, the striker extended his run to five successive games in which he’s found the back of the net. Jurgen Klopp will be pleased to see his Reds get back to winning ways before Monday’s Merseyside derby. Everton also got back to winning ways on Tuesday night when they beat Arsenal, ruffling Arsene Wenger’s feathers.
Having seen the noise that Everton fans created at Goodison Park, the springboard for their comeback against the timid Gunners, Klopp will be wary. He’ll need strong characters in his side and that goes some way to explaining why Karius was benched. His coach has the utmost faith in his ability but it’s the psychological effects of fierce criticism that he’s worried about. Appearing jittery in recent weeks, this game has come too soon in his Liverpool career.
Adam Lallana is momentarily filling the shoes of Philippe Coutinho as Liverpool’s main man while the Brazilian recovers from injury. Another England international, Ross Barkley, showed glimpses of his best form in his most recent appearance. He’s been linked with a move to Spurs and if that’s what incentivises him to perform well then Everton fans will probably shrug resignedly. Whatever wins the derby, right? The spoils will probably be shared here.
