West Ham v Tottenham Betting Predictions – Back Tottenham Win with 2.5 Goals
West Ham are yet to really find their identity at the London Stadium and have not had the best of times in their new home, particularly against the bigger sides. Hefty defeats to Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City will give Tottenham confidence coming into this one.
Spurs need all the points they can get if they are to usurp Chelsea at the top of the Premier League, while West Ham are coming towards the end of their campaign with very little to play for. The bet we suggest here is an away win with a relatively high number of goals, because both sides, particularly the visitors, have the quality in attack to threaten.
The Hammers’ biggest problem has undoubtedly been dealing with the different atmosphere between Upton Park and the London Stadium. With the fans further away and the pitch bigger, it is less intimidating for visitors, who can come and play an expansive game. Spurs have had a similar problem in the Champions League at Wembley, with teams more likely to meet them head on in such a big arena.

Whoever utilises the pitch’s width in this one will go a long way to getting the points. West Ham are more effective in wide areas than Spurs, particularly higher up the pitch, with the likes of Robert Snodgrass and Andre Ayew able to stretch the play. Spurs look to cut inside from the wing with the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen finding space in behind the midfield. Teams often counter this by flooding the midfield, but that gives Danny Rose and Kyle Walker the freedom to open the game up by getting up field.
West Ham must be brave by playing a high line. Meeting Spurs head on is a gamble, but it will keep the fullbacks occupied and allow them to be a threat on the counter attack themselves, Spurs will play with great intensity and it is vital they match it from start to finish.
Expect an exciting game if West Ham are up for it, but another crucial victory for Pochettino’s men.
