Stoke and Spurs lock horns in must-win gamePublished April 18, 2016
There have been seven red cards in seven Premier League games between Spurs and Stoke, and who would bet against another slew of cards?
After Leicester’s controversial draw yesterday, dropping their first points since March 1st, Tottenham have the chance to make up some ground on the runaway league leaders and narrow the number of points between them to five.
Harry Kane has been declared fit and has the chance to move ahead of England compatriot Jamie Vardy in the Golden Boot rankings. However, Spurs away record is not as good as it seems of late, with only a win against now relegated Aston Villa since the middle of February in any competition. Nevertheless, the North London team are in good form and Mauricio Pochettino’s men are a different side to the team which let a two goal lead slip at White Hart Lane to Stoke earlier in the season.
Stoke do seem to get results against Tottenham, and they did the ‘double’ over them last season. However, they have lost two of their last three home games at the Britannia Stadium and have won just one of their last five Premier League matches.
One thing that we have seen when these two meet is a feisty game with full throttle challenges. There have been seven red cards in seven Premier League games between Spurs and Stoke at the Britannia Stadium, with only one of those matches not seeing a dismissal.
While there is a lot at stake for Spurs and not much for the team from the Potteries, Mark Hughes will not want to see a relatively good season ruined late on and will have his team raring to go for this one.
