Premier League betting: Leicester City to complete the fairytale against Manchester UnitedPublished April 27, 2016
Who would want to bet against Leicester completing the most unlikely of championships at the place where so many recent title celebrations have taken place?
It goes without saying that if one was told at the beginning of the season that three points gained at this match could clinch the league, everyone would have assumed that the Red Devils would be 90 minutes away from their 21st league title.
Amazingly, Leicester are now one win away from the fairytale ending to their remarkable season after Spurs, in second place, were held to an unlikely draw against West Brom last Monday.
The Foxes will have to play another game without top scorer Jamie Vardy who had another game added to his suspension after being hit with an improper conduct charge after his reaction to being sent off recent against West Ham.
However, Vardy’s absence didn’t appear to hinder Leicester in their last outing as they ran out 4-0 winners over Swansea, with his replacement, Leonardo Ulloa, scoring twice.
Manchester United will definitely not want Leicester to be celebrating a trophy they have almost had to themselves for the last two decades, winning 11 of the last 20 titles.
United’s league form has been extremely average by their standards and have only one by more than a goal once since the beginning of February, although it was during their last Premier League game against Crystal Palace when a comfortable 2-0 victory was enough to see off the Eagles, albeit with one an own goal by Damian Delaney.
Last weekend, the Red Devils booked their passage to the FA Cup final by beating Everton thanks to a goal late into injury time by Anthony Martial. However, Louis van Gaal’s side are still battling with their Manchester neighbours, City, and Arsenal for Champions League qualification and that, coupled with a trophy, could be seen as above satisfactory for the United board when they come to assess Van Gaal’s future.
