Premier League betting: Giroud to fire Arsenal to victory against Aston VillaPublished May 15, 2016
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has scored in his last five appearances against Villa and after breaking his goal drought against Manchester City, he will want to end the season on a high.
Aston Villa have only won once away this season and that was against Bournemouth in August. Although they had already lost their first three games, few Villa fans could have envisioned the season to come. They have only added two home wins to their solitary away win to make them probably the weakest Premier League team in recent seasons, scoring only 27 times in the league in 37 games played.
Arsenal still have much to play for. A win will push them too far ahead of fourth placed Manchester City and win automatic qualification for the Champions League and if Spurs lose at Newcastle, could see them leapfrog their North London rivals and finish an unlikely second.
The Gunners are pretty effective on the last game of the season having not lost the final fixture in ten years, winning eight times and drawing just twice.
Their record against the Villans is even more impressive, with Arsene Wenger’s team having won nine of their last 11 meetings and have scored 14 goals without reply in the last four matches against Villa across all competitions.
Olivier Giroud has a particular penchant for Villa and has scored in each of his last five appearances against the Midlands side, and with Danny Welbeck out for nine months the Frenchman seems a cert to start. After scoring for his first goal in 15 games against Manchester City last time out, Giroud will want to end the season on a high and demonstrate to the Arsenal fans he still has an eye for goal.
