Swansea v Tottenham Betting Predictions | Back a Draw 7/2 with Bet365Published April 4, 2017
After winning five of his first eight games, Paul Clement has seen his Swansea side revert to struggling in recent weeks and they come up against a resilient Tottenham side with renewed hope of winning Premier League bets this season.
This one looks to be tight, but with the visitors needing a win to keep the pressure up on Chelsea, we’re going for a late away win.
Swansea’s dip in form has come as a direct result of top scorer Fernando Llorente getting injured and he is a doubt for this game. The Spaniard’s linkup play with former Spurs man Gylfi Sigurdsson has been the catalyst for the Welsh club’s upturn in fortunes, but it is tough to see them breaching the best away defence in the league without their dynamic duo linking up.
Sigurdsson will find space in behind the Spurs midfield, especially if the visitors play with wingbacks, allowing Danny Rose to push on. The Icelandic midfielder starts on the right but cuts inside, but the aim of Mauricio Pochettino’s system is to create a strong core in the middle, meaning he will just run into traffic.
Without Llorente, Swansea will lack a physical presence in attack to aim for. If he plays, he will provide a much needed option to get the ball into space in behind the high press of Spurs, but Swansea like to play a fast passing game themselves, and with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen afforded freedom to cause havoc within the new system, they will look to create confusion between the base of Swasea’s midfield and their defence as well as space for Harry Kane’s replacement Son Heung-Min.
It was that movement and intensity that helped Spurs become only the fourth team to beat Burnley at Turf Moor over the weekend, and they will likely come up against a team who will offer them less respect in Swansea. It may take time and they will have to watch Sigurdsson, but they should get over the line.
