Championship Play-Off Free Bet Tip: Long odds on Sheffield Wednesday to defeat Hull City make a bet on the Owls well worth a flutterPublished May 27, 2016
It has been called the richest game in world football, because the winners of the Championship Playoff Final is worth up to £200million to its winners because of the Premier League‘s new £5bn TV deal, which comes into effect next season.
Hull City are on the brink of an immediate return to the Premier League after dropping down a division last year. An unpredictable semi-final win against Derby County 3-2 on aggregate, with all goals coming from the teams away from home, have sent them within 90 minutes of bouncing back.
The only injury worry for the Tigers is goalkeeper Allan McGregor as Hull prepare for their third trip to the national stadium in two years, with Eldin Jakupovic possibly needing to deputise.
The Tigers were nine points better off than their opponents in the final, although the two games between the finalists during the regular season ended in draws.
While Hull will be clear favourites, Wednesday are dark horses whose mid-season saw them move comfortably into the play off positions.
Beating Brighton & Hove Albion in the play off semi-final was a major upset. The Seagulls had only missed out on automatic promotion by goal difference and were the bookies favourites to complete their promotion.
However, winning 2-0 at Hillsborough saw the Owls travel to the Amex Stadium where a ‘backs against the wall’ performance saw them draw 1-1 and go through 3-1 on aggregate.
