Back Kevin Bizier to take Kell Brook into the later rounds in Saturday’s big fightPublished March 25, 2016
Kell Brook puts his unbeaten 35-0 professional boxing record on the line this Saturday at the Sheffield Arena (Live on Sky Sports 1) as he defends his IBF Welterweight title.
“Special K” was eyeing up a super-fight with Amir Khan prior to this match with Kevin Bizier being booked, but Khan Vs Canelo is now booked for a mouth-watering clash in May. Canadian Kevin Bizier is no slouch, a winner in 25 of his 27 bouts to date, 17 of them by knock-out and he has promised to bring the fire against Kell Brook and strip him of his title.
Brook makes the third defence of his title against the mandatory challenger from Canada following an extended training camp as a result of the rib injury that forced him out of his October clash with Diego Chaves. In a recent interview for Sky Sports, Brook said:
“It feels like I’ve been training for an eternity and I just can’t wait to get in there and fight, the back end of last year was so frustrating. I was excited for the Chaves fight and to get injured with just over a week to go was heartbreaking.“
“I was a mandatory challenger once and know how hungry I was. I’ve seen him saying that he is going to try and pressure me on Saturday and that’s music to my ears. I want to stand and fight. I haven’t had that fight night feeling for nearly a year and it’s been killing me inside. Saturday will be quite emotional for me and I feel a special performance coming on.”
The main win market has Kell Brook as the overwhelming 1/25 favourite, with Bizier’s price ranging from 9/1 to 12/1 underdog. Skybet are offering an interesting “Over/Under” Total Rounds market. Brook is fancied to stop this fight, but the price of 4/5 about there being “Over 5.5 Rounds” appeals.
The Canadian has yet to be stopped inside the distance and his only two losses came via split decision, so despite the rise in class he could hang in there.
