Luis Ortiz Vs Malik Scott – Over 5.5 Rounds 11/8 with Skybet

The American Malik Scott will take on ‘King Kong’ Luis Ortiz this Saturday night live on Sky Sports from Monte Carlo in a heavyweight clash that could have implications on who Anthony Joshua will fight next, with the winner edging closer to a world title shot next year.

In the boxing betting, Ortiz is the hot bookmaker favourite at long odds-on, so in search of a value bet it comes down to predicting when and how the fight might end.

Ortiz enters the fight with a fearsome unbeaten record of 22 knockouts in 25 wins, so Malik will need to back up his pre-fight confidence. Despite being priced between 9/1 and 12/1 to win, Scott is super-confident, even Dillian Whyte – who has shared a number of training camps with Scott – is backing him to pull off an upset victory.

The American insists he ‘picked’ the fight against ‘King Kong’ Ortiz, who is one of the most dangerous punchers in the top division, and has worked on his “cat-like” reflexes ahead of their meeting in Monte Carlo.

He’ll need to, Ortiz is a very effective and fast counter-puncher, who has the ability to set neat little traps from his lead jab whilst cutting off the ring. It is an imposing tactic from the 37-year old southpaw, whose unorthodox stance makes him and even trickier heavyweight to cope with.  Expect the Cuban to find his range in the mid section of the bout and put Malik Scott to sleep. SkyBet are offering 11/8 on this fight going ‘Over 5.5 Rounds’, which could be a little value.

Jamie McDonnell also defends his WBA bantamweight title against Liborio Solis on an exciting undercard this weekend. Stephen Smith challenges champion Jason Sosa for the WBA super-featherweight title, while Martin Murray is facing a potentially explosive battle with Dmitry Chudinov at super-middleweight.

Sky Sports are doing a fantastic job of covering these non-marquee cards with no huge names. But don’t mistake the lack of a big name for a poor quality viewing experience, this will be a very entertaining night of boxing action.
