Premier League Darts: Back James Wade to beat Adrian Lewis in Week 11Published April 12, 2016
Barneveld Highest Checkout v Phil Taylor at 11/8 William Hill
James Wade could put himself into the all-important top-four of the league with victory on Thursday. The bookies clearly don’t know what to make of it. 6/5 is available about Adrian Lewis (Paddy Power), 7/4 Wade (Betfair) and 15/4 the draw (bet365). That means a tiny margin making it a game you should bet on given the remotest opinion.
Lewis beat Wade 7-5 when they met in February but Wade has improved since and on the evidence of last week’s results it’s Wade that looks the most likely winner.
The pride of Aldershot smashed in an amazing 30 ton+ scores against Barneveld last week. Lewis meanwhile posted just 21x ton+ scores in his game against Peter Wright, a match which lasted a leg less than Wade’s and one he was very fortunate to get a draw from.
Phil Taylor was available at 7/1 at the outset of the 2016 Betway Premier League Darts, written off for the umpteenth time in his career. The multiple World Champion now heads the League standings courtesy of 8 wins, 2 draws and a single loss from 11 games. In total he has won 63 legs and lost 39. He’s just 11/10 to top the league.
But, amazingly, Taylor’s stats do not match his results. The darting legend clearly finds a way to get the job done but his highest checkout of 141 is the ‘lowest best’ of all other remaining Premier League players.
He has also posted just 32 180 scores. To quantify that, van Gerwen and Barneveld have recorded more than 40 180’s. So, with the bookmakers once again seemingly confusing results with stats, there is some great value amongst the obscure markets in his face-off with Raymond van Barneveld. This is a pairing which has more history than the Magna Carta.
Barneveld is never 11/8 to score the highest check-out …well he is and that’s available at William Hill. Likewise Coral’s 5/4 about the Dutchman scoring the most 180’s looks gift-wrapped.
