West Ham set sights on £67m Real Madrid star James RodriguezPublished July 17, 2016
West Ham are one of a number of sides taking a keen interest in Real Madrid star James Rodriguez according to Marca.
The Hammers are set to move into the Olympic Stadium and secured European football for next term and this has led Slaven Bilic to target top names in the summer transfer window, however, a move for Colombian international Rodriguez could be a bridge too far.
The 25-year-old started less than half of Real Madrid’s La Liga fixtures last season and though he isn’t a key performer in Zinedine Zidane’s side the Spanish side want at least €80m (£67m) for the former FC Porto and AS Monaco man and that price tag will narrow the number of sides who could realistically capture the Bernabeu star.
West Ham have their work out to keep hold of Dimitri Payet after his World Cup displays and it would be an amazing statement of intent to land a player of Rodriguez’s undoubted ability.
Despite starting just 21 games in all competitions last term Rodriguez racked up nine goals and ten assists and any move that would secure regular action would tempt the cultured forward.
