VIDEO: Mauricio Pochettino confirms Spurs star will return for Arsenal matchPublished November 4, 2016
He’s been missing since September when he went off injured against Sunderland but not Harry Kane is back. Mauricio Pochettino delivered the update at his press conference on Friday morning. He’s fit just in time for the North London derby at Arsenal on Sunday. It was the team news that all Spurs fans wanted to hear.
Speaking to the press about the return of his star striker, Pochettino said: “He will be in the squad. He will be available for Sunday and then I need to decide (whether he should be in the) starting XI or (on the) bench. I am happy after yesterday, (it was a) very good training session, he is fit.”
He continued: “It would not be a risk to play him. We try to avoid risk. If he is on the pitch or the bench it’s because we’re sure it’s not a risk for him to play.
“In football, you can’t avoid all risk because it’s a contact sport (but if) the doctor said he is available to be selected it’s because there is no risk of injury.”
Spurs have struggled in front of goal in Kane’s absence and it’s led to a rather worrying winless run. The England international scored in both league games against Arsenal last season.
