Video: Liverpool and Everton target helps Rostov stun BayernPublished November 24, 2016
Reported Everton and Liverpool target Sardar Azmoun starred in FC Rostov’s shock 3-2 Champions League win against Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.
A highly-rated forward believed to be piquing the interest of Ronald Koeman and Jurgen Klopp, Azmoun netted a superb equalising goal in the minnows’ surprise defeat of the Bundesliga powerhouses, further reinforcing his status as one of Europe’s hottest young strikers.
After Douglas Costa’s smashed effort had given the visitors a deserved early lead, 21-year-old Azmoun raced onto a through-ball before feigning to shoot on the edge of the area.
The dummy sent Bayern defender Jereme Boateng the wrong way, with the Rostov youngster then proceeding to cut inside and curl a low shot under the reach of stand-in Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
Back on level terms, the Russian outfit sensed an upset was on the cards, and Dmitry Poloz put them ahead just after half-time with a coolly-taken penalty.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men equalised again through Bernat’s drilled effort into the roof of the net, but Christian Noboa sealed a famous win for Rostov in the 66th minute.
One of the stars of the victory, Azmoun is having a campaign to remember for the Russian Premier League side, having also netted against Atletico Madrid earlier in the competition.
His strong performances have drawn admiring glances from a number of top sides, with Wednesday night’s display sure to have earned him a few more suitors on top of the Merseyside pair.
