VIDEO: Ben Woodburn becomes Liverpool's youngest ever goalscorer vs LeedsPublished November 30, 2016
Ben Woodburn made history for Liverpool last night when he became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer. The teenager scored the second goal in the club’s 2-0 win over Leeds United in the EFL Cup quarter-final. He broke a Michael Owen record which had previously stood for 19 years.
Woodburn set the hype machine into overdrive when he finished off a wonderful team move with a clinical finish. At the age of 17 years and 45 days, no Liverpool player has put the ball into the back of the net at a younger age.
Jurgen Klopp praised the starlet after the game but made sure to protect him by saying that it’s all ahead of him. There’s no rush. Plus, he’s not the only exciting teenager at Anfield right now.
Reds legend Jamie Carragher described Trent Alexander-Arnold as the perfect full-back after the win. The teenager only celebrated his 18th birthday last month but earned rave reviews for his man of the match display here.
