Video: Aubameyang settles Der KlassikerPublished November 20, 2016
An early goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was enough to hand Borussia Dortmund a vital 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in Saturday’s Der Klassiker.
Roared on by a crowd in excess of 80,000 people, BVB stormed out of the traps to take the lead after just 11 minutes- and what a move it was too.
Seizing on a loose ball in the box, Aubameyang flicked delightfully to Lukasz Piszczek, who found Mario Gotze- playing against his former team- down the right.
The ex-Bayern star’s low centre was precise, with a wonderful team move culminating in the Gabonese striker’s finish on the stretch.
Despite having 67% possession and 18 shots on goal, Bayern couldn’t find a way back into the game, meaning third-placed Dortmund are now just three points behind their fierce rivals.
Both sides, however, have been eclipsed up to now by surprise package RB Leipzig, who sit three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after winning eight and drawing three of their opening 11 games.
