Twitter goes into overdrive with Deli Alli jokes after apparent punch on West Brom’s Claudio Yacob

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli could have played his last game for the club this season, after replays showed him appearing to punch West Brom’s Claudio Yacob during Monday’s 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane.

The England starlet could now be facing a three-game retrospective ban from the Football Association for his actions, as the incident appeared to be unseen by referee Mike Jones.

The 20-year-old was in buoyant mood pre-match on Monday, after being named the PFA Young Player of the Year only 24 hours earlier, but it unfortunately seems that the midfielder’s season could now have ended prematurely, after a moment of real petulance.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino refused to condemn the actions of his dynamic midfielder, suggesting that Alli, was acting in retaliation.

The imminent ban for Dele Alli summed up a night of frustration for the North London side, who saw their title ambitions suffer a crucial blow after their draw against a stubborn West Brom side. Spurs now trail leaders Leicester by seven points with only three games remaining, and it looks as though Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be without one of their most important players for the remainder of the season.

In the aftermath of Dele Alli’s alleged punch, football fans took to Twitter in a humorous manner to react to the England midfielder’s actions.

There seems to be no sympathy shown for the Tottenham starlet.
