Cue a meltdown of epic proportions if Jurgen Klopp stole the defende from under the nose of Arsene Wenger…
Twist: Liverpool make shock bid for Arsenal's top summer targetPublished August 19, 2016
What a twist this would be.
According to Cadena SER, Liverpool have opened talks with the representatives of Arsenal’s number one transfer target Shkodran Mustafi.
The German centre-back has been a target or Gunners boss Arsene Wenger all summer, and whilst there have been talks between Arsenal and Mustafi’s club Valencia, a deal hasn’t progressed as quickly as was initially thought.
Arsenal’s hesitation in paying the £30m reported asking price has led to Liverpool entering the race for the 24-year-old’s signature, with the report suggesting that the Anfield side are further down the line in negotiations than the North London outfit.
It was evident from Sunday’s 4-3 opening weekend encounter, that both side’s need to strengthen defensively between now and the end of the summer transfer window on August 31.
