Tottenham emerge as favourites for Ghezzal signaturePublished November 15, 2016
A host of Premier League sides are monitoring Rachid Ghezzal’s contractual situation, with Tottenham the frontrunners in the race to sign the Lyon winger.
The Algerian’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and as negotiations over a new deal hit the buffers, Foot 365 claim that the White Hart Lane outfit have joined long-standing suitors Everton and West Ham in the queue for his services.
A pacey winger with a sweet left-foot, Ghezzal turned down a move to Goodison Park over the summer despite a bumper financial package being on offer.
Determined to stay with a team in European competition, the 24-year-old instead chose to stay at Lyon and open talks to prolong his current deal.
Since then, though, contract negotiations have stalled, with Ghezzal growing increasingly frustrated at starting just five games so far this season.
This has alerted several clubs, including Spurs, to his potential availability, and given his summer pronouncements over European football, it has to be assumed Mauricio Pochettino would be favourites to tempt the wide man to England.
The French publication adds that both Tottenham and West Ham have indicated their interest in signing Ghezzal to his representatives, with Everton thought to instead be exploring a possible loan deal for Manchester United flop Memphis Depay.
