Star Premier League duo on Barcelona radar ahead of summer transfer splurgePublished February 23, 2017
Hector Bellerin and Kyle Walker are targets for Barcelona as the La Liga champions attempt to snare a top class right-back over the summer.
The Premier League duo have shone so far this season for Arsenal and Tottenham respectively, bringing themselves to the attention of Barca’s scouting team, who are on the lookout for a new first-choice full-back.
Long-term incumbent of the role, Dani Alves, left to join Juventus over the summer, while replacements Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal have toiled in an attempt to replicate the Brazilian’s success at the Camp Nou.
This has made the need for a new addition to fill the problem positon even greater, with a shortlist of targets already compiled by club officials.
According to the London Evening Standard, one of those names is Walker in light of his superb, marauding runs from right-back and improved defensive showings.
The 26-year-old is having arguably his best season to date in a white shirt, and will certainly not come cheap having signed a new five-year deal last year.
Another name reportedly on the list is Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, if Mundo Deportivo are to be believed.
The Barcelona-born youngster left the Blaugrana’s La Masia academy to join the Gunners back in 2011, but has since developed into one of the top full-backs in English football, alerting his former team to his potential.
The suggestion in Spain is that Bellerin is currently Barca’s favoured option at this moment in time due to his existing relationship with the club.
Valencia’s Joao Cancelo and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Dario Srna have also been linked with moves to Barcelona in recent months.
