Star Chelsea duo close in on new dealsPublished November 24, 2016
Chelsea are on the verge of tying key duo Diego Costa and Thibault Courtois to new deals at the club.
The news caps a remarkable turnaround for the Stamford Bridge outfit under new manager Antonio Conte, with both players previously thought to be keen on leaving west London in favour of a move back to Spain.
Following a dire season in 2015/16 that saw the Premier League title winners slip from first to tenth in the space of just a year, the star pair were linked with Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid respectively.
But under Conte, the Blues have experienced something of a renaissance, convincing the likes of Costa and Courtois to commit their futures to the club.
The Daily Telegraph claims that after being convinced that the club are making progress with the Italian at the helm, both players are set to sign extended deals keeping them in the English capital until 2020 at the earliest.
Although official talks have yet to take place and are scheduled for the New Year, it is understood that Costa stands to earn around £200,000 from the improved terms, with Courtois in line to pocket a salary of £150,000.
The in-form duo will be back in action on Saturday, as Chelsea play host to London rivals Tottenham.
