Seven Massive Transfers That Could Still Happen This SummerPublished August 16, 2016
With just over two weeks to go until the end of the summer transfer window, there are still some potentially mouth-watering deals that could still take place.
We at Free Bets take a look at seven transfers which are reportedly in the pipelines over the next fortnight.
Romelu Lukaku – Everton to Chelsea
The Belgian striker has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer, and it is believed that the West London side are trying to get a £60m deal done before the end of the transfer window.
Don’t be surprised if Arsenal also enter the race to sign the Everton forward.
Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea to Real Madrid
Whilst Chelsea may be looking to add players to their squad, it appears that they may also be preparing for some departures too. Midfielder Cesc Fabregas is reportedly a big money target for Real Madrid, and is desperate for a return to Spain. After being left out of the Blues’ 2-1 victory over West Ham on Monday, the Spaniard may very well be heading for the exit door at Stamford Bridge.
Alexandre Lacazette – Lyon to Arsenal
It is well known by now, that Arsenal are desperate to land Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette. The Gunners failed with a £29m bid earlier this summer and it’s thought Arsene Wenger is still keen on bringing the Frenchman to the Emirates.
Expect this story to run and run until the last few days of the window.
Mauro Icardi – Inter to Arsenal
Another striker linked with a big money move to North London, is Argentine Mauro Icardi. The striker reportedly wants a move away from the San Siro, and Arsenal’s interest has been well documented.
Inter would want at least £45m for Icardi’s services, meaning Arsene Wenger may need to dig deep in the last few weeks of the window.
Christian Benteke – Liverpool to Crystal Palace
Christian Benteke’s Liverpool career appears to be over, with both the player and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp confirming that a departure is on the cards.
Both Crystal Palace and West Brom are both thought to be very keen on the Belgian’s services, with Palace failing with a £23m bid on Tuesday. Liverpool are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £32m.
James Rodrigez – Real Madrid to Chelsea
According to reports in Spain, Antonio Conte is lining up a mega £75m bid for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
The Colombian midfielder has reportedly become disillusioned with life in Spain, and is seeking a move away from the club this summer.
Leonardo Bonucci – Juventus to Man City/Man United/ Chelsea
Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is reportedly a target for Chelsea, Man City and Man United, as the title rivals try and improve their respective defensive back-lines.
The in-demand centre-half would cost in the region of £50m, a fee which isn’t likely to put off the interested parties.
Whether Juventus would really look to cash in on one of their prized assets remains to be seen, but expect more from this story as we get closer to deadline day.
