Ryan Giggs reveals the greatest player he played with at Old Trafford
Ryan Giggs spent 24 years playing for Manchester United, so when listing the very best we ought to simply sit back in awe.
Then again, what else can you do other than appreciate the sheer genius these players brought to the English game?
Names such as Eric Cantona, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane may come somewhere in the top half but in the eyes of Giggs no-one was as good as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to the Mirror, the 42-year-old believes that the current Real Madrid superstar had the lot, despite a difficult start to his days at the club.
“People forget he had a difficult start, but he did – and still does – everything he can to be the best,” said Giggs.
“He’s an unbelievable athlete and player – the best I played with.
“He was really good to have around the dressing room – until you needed the mirror. First, it was Becks, who sat there, and, when Cristiano came, he replaced Becks next to the mirror. So, you could forget it if you wanted to use the mirror – you’d have to wait!”
Ah, the old mirror joke. But unsurprising when it refers to Ronaldo. If only he looked as good as I.
