Rumour Round-Up: Arsenal, Liverpool, Bonucci, Man United, Chelsea, Lukaku, Mourinho and much more
Chelsea in world-class defender hunt
Chelsea are keen on completing a move to sign long-term target Leonardo Bonucci and the deal could cost upwards of £50m (London Evening Standard)
Antonio Conte’s Stamford Bridge side sit up near the top of the Premier League and have kept five successive clean sheets to boot and having forked out £30m to bring David Luiz back to West London one has to wonder why the Italian would spend big on another defender?
Gunners make world-record transfer bid
Arsenal are said to have failed with an amazing £90m bid for Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang according to Italian source Corriere dello Sport
It’s next to impossible to believe this story could have any validity one any front. You’d have to be a complete moron to believe that a) Arsene Wenger made a world-record transfer offer for the Gabon international and b) that such an offer somehow went unnoticed up until now…
Toffees forward on PSG radar
PSG have set their sights on Everton forward Romelu Lukaku according to the The Sun and this is a move that has the hallmarks of a ‘believable’ transfer story, hard to believe I know.
The Belgian international has long been linked with a Toffees exit and a move abroad now seems most likely and the Ligue 1 giants could well be looking for a fresh striking option after an indifferent start to the current campaign.
Arsenal contract news
Hector Bellerin has reportedly signed a new six-year deal with Arsenal according to the Daily Mirror and this will be news that will be greatly please Gunners fans.

There has been ongoing speculation that Barcelona will look to tempt the right-back into returning to the Nou Camp and the signing of a long-term contract could at least allay those fears a tad.
Staying with Arsenal, Olivier Giroud is hoping to stick it out at the Emirates Stadium despite his lack of first-team action of late according to the Daily Mail.
The French international has barely had a look-in this season but did grab a brace after coming on as a sub against Sunderland last month and will hope to get his foot back in the door in coming weeks.
Jose tries to calm things down
Jose Mourinho laid into ‘injured’ pair Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw after Man United’s 3-1 away win at Swansea City in a seemingly unwarranted attack but the Old Trafford boss is apparently keen to reassure the England internationals and the Daily Express claims the Portuguese manager sees both players are key to his long-term plans.
I think the footballing world knows that Mourinho regularly throws players ‘under the bus’ as he knows it helps deflect attention from his own failings. Man United players will get used to this behaviour…
West Ham in cloud cuckoo land
West Ham may well have delusions of grandeur if recent rumours are to be believed. Slaven Bilic has his sights set not on one, but two, Chelsea first-team stars!
The East London side hope to bring in out of favour midfielder Cesc Fabregas as well as defender Branislav Ivanovic (via The Guardian), this is hard to swallow given that the Hammers currently sit just above the drop zone.
Liverpool target Next Big Thing
Liverpool are hot on the heels of the ‘Next Cristiano Ronaldo’, yes another one of those, Christian Pulisic and the Anfield side are ready to up their bid from the £14m offer that failed over the summer up to £27m (Via the Daily Mail).
Jurgen Klopp will know Pulisic well from their shared time at Borussia Dortmund and the way Liverpool are performing right now you wouldn’t bet against them tempting the American teenager.
