That man is none other than Ernesto Valverde, who has agreed to join the club after their campaign ends on the 28th May.

The Camp Nou side still need to play their Copa del Rey final game against Alaves in what will be Luis Enrique’s final game in charge of the Catalan giants.

Valverde, now former Athletic Bilbao manager, is a former player at the Camp Nou, something which is often a pivotal part of Barcelona’s recruitment preferences.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman was touted as a possible target but the club were reportedly unwilling to pay his release clause and he was perfectly happy having taken over at the Merseysiders in the summer.

Jorge Sampaoli was also a name mentioned but he is set to take over the Argentina national team job in a bid to help the qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

It is reported that the players have been informed of the decision to bring Valverde on board and now we are set for an official reveal which is cited to be on the 29th May.

Luis Enrique announced that he would like to step down from his position as manager earlier on in the season, with the club then chasing possible replacements thereafter.
