Real Madrid have 'secret' plan to sign Liverpool star in £88m transfer: Player plus cash offer in place
La Liga giants Real Madrid are readying a big-money offer for Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho with the Bernabeu side set to target the Brazilian next summer.
24-year-old attacking midfielder Coutinho has reinvigorated his career since his move to Merseyside back in 2013 and is very much a fan favourite at the Premier League club, but this may not prevent the Rio born star from looking longingly towards the glances from such an accomplished suitor.
Coutinho was struggling to make an impact at Inter Milan when he was lured by former boss Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool three and a half years ago and his steady progression has seen the cultured attacker mature into a hugely effective performer.
This run of good form has led to a more prominent role in the Brazilian national team set-up but Coutinho no doubt hopes to secure major silverware and thus far this is something Liverpool have not been able to offer the diminutive star.
Whilst Liverpool have started the current campaign well they may fail to keep hold of Coutinho if their push does not result in a Champions League berth at the very least.
Real Madrid are putting together a big financial package that they hope will secure his services with the club’s president having put aside around £55m and the Spanish side will offer the services of a top-notch star as part of a player plus cash offer that Jurgen Klopp may be forced to consider.
The player said to be on offer is midfielder Isco, valued at around £33m, whilst another known Liverpool target James Rodriguez is apparently off the table as the Colombian is not looking to leave Real Madrid any time soon.
Isco has struggled to retain a foothold in the Real Madrid starting eleven but is a proven prospect when given the chance to impress.
Coutinho has bagged three goals and provided two assists in his opening seven Premier League starts this season and moves to land the former Santos man appear to be underway with former Real Madrid star Ronaldo stating his desire to see the Liverpool man move to the Champions League holders.
The Brazilian legend stated in a recent interview on Onda Cero’s ‘El Transistor’ radio show:
‘I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player.’
Coutinho is currently tied down to a contract that runs until 2020 and has made a total of 153 appearances for the club, netting 32 goals and providing 28 assists in the process.
