Real Madrid line up tempting Dele Alli swap bid: Zidane wants Tottenham youngsterPublished April 26, 2016
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is set to pursue Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli this summer as the Bernabeu boss looks to lure the England international to the Spanish capital.
20-year-old Alli has had a standout campaign at White Hart Lane and is certain to feature in Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad and as such Zidane will push Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to fund an early summer move for the Tottenham man.
Zidane knows he faces a real fight to persuade Tottenham to sell Alli and is ready to offer Colombian attacker James Rodriguez as part of an exchange deal between the two sides.
Alli has racked up 10 goals and nine assists in his 33 Premier League appearances this term and has been a key performer in Mauricio Pochettino’s title challening set-up, and as such not a player the Argentine manager would want to lose.
Zidane is keen to invest in his Real Madrid squad and the fact his side have made great strides since he took over from Rafa Benitez in January will strenghten his case for funds.
Real Madrid fought long and hard to land both Luka Modric and Gareth Bale from Tottenham and will look to once again successfully raid the North London outfit.
James Rodriguez is ready to quit Real Madrid after failing to secure a regular post in Zidane’s starting eleven, the former FC Porto and AS Monaco man starting just 15 of the club’s 35 La Liga fixtures in 2015/16, and is said to be open to a move to England.
Though the 24-year-old South American hasn’t been regularly used by Real Madrid this season it’s worth noting the cultured attacker has still managed to register eight goals and seven assists in his 27 La Liga and Champions League appearances.
