PSG line-up 'secret' £200m deal to sign Neymar: Ligue 1 side ready to meet Barcelona star's release clause
Barcelona forward Neymar is said to be the subject of growing interest at PSG with Goal.com claiming that the Ligue 1 side are ready to fork out the €222m (£200m) required to trigger the Brazilian international’s release clause.
PSG have, by their own terms, spent frugally over the summer and this is supposedly with a view to keeping funds available to meet the 24-year-old release clause in the summer of 2017.
The French club saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic leave for Manchester United on completion of his contract and David Luiz rejoined Chelsea and as such the Parc des Princes side’s owners may be looking to issue a real statement of intent.
Neymar has proven a massive success since moving to the Nou Camp, both in terms of his on-field feats as well as his off-field promotional value for the Catalan based side.
The former Santos man has racked up 90 goals in 148 appearances for Barcelona, helping the club to two La Liga titles, a Champions League triumph, two Copa del Rey successes as well as a FIFA Club World Cup winners’ medal over the course of his three completed seasons.
This source claims that Neymar’s €222m release clause will rise to €250m in 2018, hence PSG’s push to meet the sum sooner rather than later.
PSG, under the guidance of new boss Unai Emery, have started the current campaign in uncertain fashion, the big-spenders sitting in third place after eight matches having won the last four domestic titles in a row.
