Premier League star ready for Barcelona star, says former boss
Tottenham star Christian Eriksen is ready to make the step up and play for Barcelona, according to his former coach at Ajax Frank de Boer, per Sky.
Eriksen, 25, played under the former Holland and Barça defender in Amsterdam before moving to White Hart Lane in 2013, where he has continued to flourish.
Reports suggest the Blaugrana are keen on the Dane as they enter a summer of transition, with a new coach coming in to replace Luis Enrique and Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta entering the final year of their contracts.
De Boer, who spent four years at the Camp Nou between 1999 and 2003, says now is the time for Eriksen to join an elite club.
Eriksen unbelievable pass! What a player. #CHETOT— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) April 22, 2017
“I think he can have a wonderful career,” he told Danish outletEkstra Bladet. “First Ajax, then Tottenham and then the highest level.
“I think he’s ready for a step higher. He has all that a Barcelona player must have. He has an overview, he has a working ethic, and he kicks well with both legs.”
This will come as a blow to Spurs just a day after another Barça hero, Xavi, was quoted saying Pep Guadiola wants to sign Dele Alli for Manchester City.
