Premier League & La Liga giants enter bidding war for Kylian Mbappe
Champions League quarter-finalists AS Monaco are confident of securing a world-record transfer fee for Kylian Mbappe as a bidding war consisting of Real Madrid and Manchester City continues for the teenage forward.
It is believed Monaco have already received a £100m offer for Mbappe, and Yahoo! Sport reporter Duncan Castles says informed expect such figures to be surpassed.
Mbappe has contributed to Monaco’s rise to the summit of Ligue 1 and a Champions League run that should see them qualify for the semi-finals at the expense of Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.
Should Manchester City add Mbappe to their list of prominent attackers a potential exit for Sergio Aguero would be somewhat cushioned. Gabriel Jesus is recovering from injury, but it’s not the goalscoring department Pep Guardiola needs to worry about.
Another view some might have is that Mbappe has barely played half a season’s worth of games and they’re fielding £100m+ offers. I’d say the game has gone mad but I suppose that point has long passed.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, would be a gigantic step up. There will be some advising Mbappe to think long and hard about his next move but watching how quickly Anthony Martial hit the ground running at Manchester United offers a counter argument — if you ignore his performances under Jose Mourinho that is…
So, it looks like we’re in for a summer Mbappe speculation. Let us know on Twitter (@freebetscouk) where you think he would be best suited.
