Marseille tell West Ham they will only pay £25m for Dimitri Payet
Marseille claim they will pay no more than £25million for wantaway West Ham star Dimitri Payet as the uncertainty over his future rumbles on, according to Sky Sports.
The 29-year-old France international is currently out of the picture at the London Stadium after making clear his desire to make the move back to the Ligue 1 club, whom he departed for the Hammers in 2015, by refusing to train and play for the club.
The report claims the Marseille board are split over what to do, with some wanting to abandon the pursuit and others wanting to push on with it.
But it now appears that the two clubs are set for a standoff as the interested party have named the price they are willing to pay, which falls five million short of West Ham’s valuation, say Sky.
Having now rejected two bids from Marseille for Payet, the article claims West Ham will have to brace themselves as the saga looks like heading into Transfer Deadline Day on Tuesday.
While Slaven Bilic continues to make Payet train with the under 23 side, the playmaker has stressed his desire to move is for family reasons. As a result, the Daily Mirror reported he has turned down big money offers from the Chinese Super League.
