Marcus Rashford backs Manchester United's pursuit of star striker
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has backed the club’s pursuit of Alvaro Morata, despite it meaning the prospect of more competition for him next season, per Sky.
United have seen a £52million bid for the 24-year-old Spaniard turned down by Real Madrid, who only re-signed him from Juventus last summer for £32million.
But the Spain striker has struggled for regular first team football under Zinedine Zidane this season and could look for a move this summer.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho worked with Morata at the Santiago Bernabeu before leaving in 2013, and he wants to reunite.
Rashford believes signing the best players available is what makes United such a great force in England and Europe and hopes the Morata news is only the start.
“At a big club you are going to attract big players and that’s what we want,” he said.
“Anyone who can come in and help the club win trophies, which is the ultimate aim, they are the players we want to bring in.
“Good competition is important if you want to be successful.”
