Manchester United turn to Ligue 1 and Bundesliga stars after striker interest cools
Manchester United are targeting an audacious bid for Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, while also targeting Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe after cooling their interest in Antoine Griezmann.
According to the Independent, the Red Devils are moving on from Atletico Madrid French star, who has an £86million buyout clause in his contract at the Vicente Calderon. United are chasing new attacking options, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future under a cloud of doubt.
Chasing Mbappe and Lewandowski would require different tactics in negotiation. The 18-year-old is a precocious talent, one who Monaco may have to seriously consider selling in the future, so the Red Devils will likely just have to find the right price.
With Lewandowski, though, they are chasing a player already known as one of the world’s best, playing and winning trophies for Bayern Munich, a huge club in Europe.
Jose Mourinho is in for a busy summer as he continues to reshape Manchester United, who have not won the Premier League title for four years.
