Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague says Manchester United have contacted Real Madrid over the possibility of signing Alvaro Morata this summer.

Morata, 24, only rejoined Real from Juventus last summer after the club activated a £32million buy-back clause in his contract at Juventus, whom they sold him to in 2013.

That deal occurred just after Jose Mourinho, now United manager, departed after three years in charge at Real, where he gave Morata his debut.

Now it seems the Portuguese would like a reunion, with his side in need of more firepower with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney both possibly departing this summer.

But he will face competition for Morata. Another of the Spain striker’s former bosses, Antonio Conte, who worked with him in Turin, is keen to sign him for Chelses, while Milan want to take him back to Italy.

Despite not playing much this season, it is likely Morata will command a minimum fee of £50million.
